A. Most engines are Detroit Diesel 13 liter - 455 hp.

Q. How many speeds are the transmissions?
A. Transmissions are 10 speeds.

Q. Do South Shore Transportation trucks have air conditioning?
A. Yes.

Q. Do South Shore Transportation trucks have cruise control?
A. Yes.

Q. Do South Shore Transportation trucks have air brakes?
A. Yes.

Q. Who pays for fuel?
A. We pay the fuel costs for company drivers.

Q. What size are the sleepers?
A. The sleepers are 60"

Q. How long are South Shore Transportation trailers?
A. The flatbeds are 48'.

Q. Are radar detectors allowed?
A. No.

Q. Do South Shore Transportation trucks have satellite communications?
A. Yes.

Q. Are South Shore Transportation trucks governed?
A. Our speed policy is 67 miles per hour.


Training

Q. Is there a cost to me for the training?
A. South Shore Transportation offers training at no cost to you if you remain employed with South Shore Transportation for at least 6 months following training.

Q. Do I have to pay for room and board while in training?
A. South Shore Transportation pays for your motel room and provides $30 for meals and incidentals. You pay for any other personal expenses you may have.

 


Pay

Q. Do you pay for stop-offs?
A. Stop-offs refer to extra pick-ups and/or drops after the first customer location. Drivers are paid for each stop-off.

Q. What type of driving positions does South Shore Transportation offer?
A. Flatbed.

Q. Does South Shore Transportation have forced dispatch?
A. Yes.

Q. Does South Shore Transportation have EZ Pass?
A. We have passes for states that accept them. We reimburse for most tolls and all bridges not covered by EZ Pass.

Q. Do I have to take a Department of Transportation physical and drug test?
A. Yes.
